Genex Utility Management Private Limited conducted the ‘Biodiversity is Life Campaign’ along with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board(KSPCB), Kelachandra, and Embassy Group. The aim of the campaign was to educate people about the biodiversity of the earth, to protect our endangered species, and to maintain the ecosystem level.
Our forests are cut down for industries and buildings, and this has affected climate change, an increase in air pollution, loss of species of flora and fauna, ecological imbalance. Few areas near the deforestation have also reported soil erosion and an increase in the room temperature.
As of 2019, India's total forest cover is 712,249 sq km, which is 21.67 percent of the total geographical area. The Karnataka state has 19.58% of forest area covered. Karnataka is blessed with western ghats which is a home for billions of species of flora and fauna, it also has more than 20 rivers that join the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. But the percentage of forest area is declining due to the increased human activities resulting in a drought area, if necessary steps are not taken and citizens do not take responsibility towards the conservation of the biodiversity, then we will be in big trouble in the future. Deforestation is creating a problem for the cultivation of the farmers.
Genex Utility Management Private Limited has taken this step as a social and corporate responsibility to conserve biodiversity by planting trees and taking care until its maturity.
